mov codecs anymore for export (because Quicktime Pro was 32bit only and Apple has killed it.) Now the newer versions of TVPaint (in 64bit mode) use the open-source FFMpeg video codecs for export to. So if you're accustomed to exporting in 32bit mode using Quicktime. the last MacOS to run 32bit apps was MacOS 10.14 Mojave). īe aware that the newest TVPaint 11.7.1 is 64bit version only (32bit apps went away on Mac as of MacOS 10.15 Catalina.

Now all your selected clips should be renamed.īecause you said you are running on Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6 you are probably still using the security dongle, right ? (you have an option to update to dongleless security system if you want, but you'll have to contact TVPaint Support regarding that. Then click on the third button under Batch Rename. I don't know if this can be changed by adjusting the script ?) The numbering at anything other than 0 or 1. (I notice that Mads' script doesn't seem to allow for starting Then click on the first button under Configuration to set a new prefix for the clips (such as SCENE_ or SC_ or CLIP_ or SHOT_ )Ĭlick the second button under Configuration to set the starting number for the clips as 1. Select all your Clips in the Project view. In the meantime, this custom script panel works to do the job. And now I have remembered it already exists ! (I confirm it still works in TVPaint 11.7.1)Īt the time Mads and several others mentioned: "this batch renaming of clips function really should be built-in to TVPaint." I agree. But our recent conversation has reminded me that the Clip naming convention when splitting a long project into smaller clips really needs a batch renamer. I usually work on individual animation scenes in TVPaint, not storyboards/animatics. I believe I had downloaded Mads' script at one time, but apparently I totally forgot about it ! DOH! But in my defense, in the past I haven't done much in the way of batch renaming of clips because I haven't had a great need for it. After some poking around in old posts on this forum I am reminded that back in 2011 a TVPaint user named Mads Juul posted his custom script panel for Batch Renaming Clips. Well, how embarrassing is this for me ? (I must be getting old ! ). (and anyone else following this discussion) You'll have to contact TVPaint Sales about that.

If you have version 10.5 or earlier then there would be an upgrade fee. If you have any version of TVPaint 11 the update to the current version 11.7.1 should be a free update.

To access the Trial version of 11.7.1, log-in to your TVPaint account on the main TVPaint website and click on the Trial version, set the configuration you need (Mac), and download it. (the trial version is fully functional except you can't save or export any work from it).

If you want to run an experiment before you upload, you can download the Trial version of TVPaint 11.7.1 for free and then attempt to open your project file just to be sure. (I have some old TVPaint files made in version 8.6 and version 9 that must be around 15 years old or older which still open in the current TVPaint 11.7.1 ). It should not have any effect on the work you've done previously in an older version. They can set up a TeamViewer session with you to help you work through the problem.ĭoes upgrading to a newer version of TV paint affect the work I've already done on the project? You could also use the Contact form on the main TVPaint website to get in touch with the official TVPaint Tech Support. NOTE: to find out exactly what version you are using, click on the Help Menu in TVPaint > About TVPaint, to bring up a window with the version information. I don't remember exactly at what point the "Create New Project from Selected Clip" function was added, whether it is in the older versions of TVPaint 11 or 11.5, but I do know for sure it is in version 11.5.3 and in 11.7.1 (the current version). If you are working on a version of TVPaint that is older than v 11.5.3 I would suggest you log in to your TVPaint account on the main TVPaint website to update your software. I can't figure out why you would not be able to access that menu.

You should be able to pull up the menu that has the option to Create New Project from Selected Clip if you're using TVPaint 11.5 or TVPaint 11.7. There has to be some other way to create a new project from a clip.
