
Commissioned by the City of Milan, it is responsible for the construction and operation of the line. At 15 kilometres, the M4 will have Linate and the San Cristoforo Station at either end. It will take trains only 30 minutes to travel the entire length of the line with its 21 stations, passing through the city’s historic centre. With trains departing at 90-second intervals, the M4 will be able to transport 24,000 people every hour in either direction, totalling 86 million a year. The first operational section delivered in July 2021, is ready for public use. It has three stations (Linate, Repetti and Forlanini FS), stretching underground for approximately 4 kilometres. When it comes into full operation, it will have the city’s entire metro network to cover 118 kilometres, thereby becoming the sixth largest in Europe by extension.
